Usually when you think of fall lipstick colors, the usual burgundies and rich browns come to mind, but I think it’s time to switch it up and add some variety. While those colors are a staple and should be in every woman’s makeup collection, it never hurts to try new colors and stray from traditional fall makeup. With the cooler, gloomy weather and unmistakable presence of neutral and warm tones, it only makes sense for us to match our lipstick with the weather! Burnt orange, greige, mauve, and caramel brown are some colors that are perfect to add to your collection this season that differ from the fall norm.
What is greige, might you ask? Greige is the wonderful mix of grey and beige that creates the perfect neutral lip. Sometimes it may look a bit more purple, a bit more cool-toned, a bit more brown, etc. depending on the color and your skin tone. But either way, the color is usually washed out with grey overall, giving it a slightly ghoulish look but in a chic way that makes you look like a sophisticated Tim Burton character.

Nude lipsticks are timeless and appropriate for any season and any occasion, in my opinion. It’s a versatile shade that you can play down or dress up, and it goes with pretty much anything. Finding a nude lipstick for dark skin can be tricky, so these are the 2 shades I recommend for anyone with dark skin looking for a simple light brown, nude lipstick.

A darker twist on the classic red to match this dark weather and possibly live out your dreams of being the next Morticia Addams. The best thing about dark red lipstick is that it can definitely be worn year-round, especially for the perfect evening makeup for a more sultry and put-together look.

Mauve is quite an interesting and diverse color. It can either come off as more purple or pink. It’s often also described as “dusty rose/pink” depending on who you ask, really. But for the sake of dark skin and the autumn, I’m going to introduce the masses to some true cool-toned, muted mauves that you can play it safe with since pinkier mauves can tend to be unflattering on darker skin.

A fall lipstick collection is definitely not complete without a signature pumpkin orange lipstick to possibly match your pumpkin spiced hair or to just add a little more warmth to your face to counteract the somber vibes of fall.
